“A three-stranded rope isn’t easily snapped” (Ecclesiastes 4:12 MSG). This idea is the foundation of Michael’s and Eugene’s work together as pastors. They are equal partners, and even more so, friends. They each have different strengths, weaknesses, gifts, perspectives, and life stories God has braided into a unified vision for The Neighborhood Church.
Meet Eugene
Eugene grew up in southwest Denver, hanging out with his family, especially his dad, where Chatfield Reservoir now stands, riding horses, stringing barbed wire, and dodging rattlesnakes. He claims it was fun.
God was not much a part of Eugene’s life until after his father suddenly passed away. Thankfully Jesus eventually broke through his self-destruction and started him on a journey of healing, forgiveness, grace and discovery.
Meet Michael
Although he didn’t move to Denver until he was four years old, Michael considers himself a Colorado native. He spent his formative years attending Redeemer Temple, a church immersed in the Jesus People movement. Childhood heroes included Barry McGuire, David Wilkerson, and most of all, Nicky Cruz.
Michael graduated from Lakewood High School in 1983 and enrolled at Oral Roberts University where he majored in Business Administration.
